1 Northern Lights (Greenland & Norway) Aurora Borealis
Amazing as the patterns change every moment sometimes whipping like a lash as in the third photo.
The photos below were taken in Norway but by far the better display was in Greenland. Unfortunately the photo quality was not as good as Norway (see last photo)
The aurora is a natural light display in the sky (from the Latin word aurora, “sunrise” in the high latitude regions, caused by the collision of Solar wind and magnetospheric charged particles.
2. Iguazu falls: Brazil Argentina and Paraguay
Largest Waterfall in the world. Unbelievable size, they seem to go on forever in fantastic nature surroundings.
Iguazu Falls is located where the Iguazu River tumbles over the edge of the Paraná Plateau, 23 kilometres (14 mi) upriver from the Iguazu’s confluence with the Paraná River.[ About half of the river’s flow falls into a long and narrow chasm called the Devil’s Throa Placenames have been given also to many other smaller falls, such as San Martín Falls, Bossetti Falls and many others.
The junction of the water flows marks the border between Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. There are points in the cities of Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, and Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, which have access to the Iguazu River, where the borders of all three nations can be seen, a popular tourist attraction for visitors to the three cities.
3 Machu Pichu (Peru)
Get there early morning and be the only people on Machu Pichu, it will give you the thrill of your life.
The Incas built the town around 1450, but abandoned it a century later at the time of the Spanish Conquest. Although known locally, it was unknown to the outside world before being brought to international attention in 1911 by the American historian Hiram Bingham. Since then, Machu Picchu has become an important tourist attraction.
3= Marble Caves. Chile
Carved into the Patagonian Andes, the Cuevas de Mármol are located on a peninsula of solid marble bordering Lake General Carrera, a remote glacial lake that spans the Chile–Argentina border.
Formed by 6,000-plus years of waves washing up against calcium carbonate, the smooth, swirling blues of the cavern walls are a reflection of the lake’s azure waters, which change in intensity and hue, depending on water levels and time of year.
4 Annapurna (Nepal)
Mountains floating on the air, pure magic.
Machhapuchchhre “Fish Tail” in English, is a mountain in the Annapurna Himalaya of north central Nepal. It is revered by the local population as particularly sacred to the god Shiva, and hence is off limits to climbing.
5 The Bayon at Angkor Wat. (Cambodia)
Almost unbelievable to have these faces looking at you only a few meters away.
The Bayon is a richly decorated Khmer temple at Angkor in Cambodia. Built in the late 12th or early 13th century as the official state temple of the Mahayana BuddhistKing Jayavarman VII, the Bayon stands at the centre of Jayavarman’s capital, Angkor Thom.
The Bayon’s most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and massive stone faces on the many towers which jut out from the upper terrace and cluster around its central peak.
6 Petra (Jordan)
Unique buildings in the middle of nowhere. Almost surreal.
Petra (Arabic: Al-Batrāʾ; Is a historical and archaeological city in the southern Jordanian governorate of Ma’an that is famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system. Another name for Petra is the Rose City due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved.
Established possibly as early as 312 BCE as the capital city of the Nabataeans,[2] it is a symbol of Jordan, as well as Jordan’s most-visited tourist attraction.[3] It lies on the slope of Jebel al-Madhbah (identified by some as the biblical Mount Hor[4]) in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba.
The site remained unknown to the Western world until 1812, when it was introduced by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt.
